Subject: CORCORAN , CONCANNON and SWEENEY families.

Hi Everyone: I seeking guidance in obtaing info on the CONCANNON and
SWEENEY family connections in Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware. The
background info I have dsicovered is: My great great grandfather George
CONCANNON dob about 1827 in County Donegal, Ireland. He was a school
teacher. His father James, a baker, died before family came to U.S..
George, his mother Cecelia, brothers Edward, Patrick Joseph and Thomas
and sister Catheine came to this country sometime before the Civil War (
ship and date unknown)- probably even before 1850. George CONCANNON
married Isabel SWEENEY ( dob about 1829 in Ireland ) about 1950. There
is no record of their marriage in Philadelphia at Old St. Josephs or St.
MARYS churches where te rest of family marriages, babtisms, etc are
recorded. Family notes on the subject indicate that Isabel SWEENEY was
from Wilmington, DE. and they may have been married there.It is believed
that a Phil WALSH introduced Isabel and George. Also George CONCANNON
worked at two jobs- he was the Superintendant of Washington Square,
Phila. (whatever that is?) and worked at Phil WALSH'S Department Store
near 2nd and Market Streets in PHILA. WALSH also had a department store
in Wilmington, De. George and Isabel CONCANNON settled in Philadelphia
and alll their nine children were born in Phila.They lived at the 400
block of Manning Street-later at 7th and Pine and 324 Spruce Street.
George CONCANNON'S sister Catherine married John P. FORD in
Philadelphia about 1867. FORD helped manage WALSH'S Departemnt Store in
Wilmington, De. They had four children. The whole family died of typhoid
in Wilmington. One of George and Isabel CONCANNON'S children-Catherine
Philomena CONCANNON (dob 02/18/1869 pob Phila.),my grandmother married
Joseph Aloysius CORCORAN (My grandfather(dob 02/02/1869,pob Phila.) at
Old St,Marys Church, Phila. on 11/25/1896. They had 8 children- one- my
father George Concannon CORCORAN born in Phila. 06/20/1903; died
08/77/77 at Margate City N.J. I am seeking any available info on
SWEENEYS in Wilmington, D. or Philadelphia.
