I find this interesting. My Phillips were also shoemakers. The
earliest one that I have found is Thomas Phillips b ca 1690, married
in Redruth, Cornwall in 1715. All the way up to the 1850s all the men
were shoe makers. My branch emigrated to Swansea and then to NYC and
were shoemakers in the USA also. It would not surprise me, if we
could go further back with each of our branches, that we would find
them connected.
