Kingsport, Tennessee--------Morrison City and Gibsontown are now part of
Kingsport. Kingsport is in the northeastern corner of Tennessee. The
Morrison City section I mentioned is right around Lynn Garden Drive....about a
mile from the Virginia state line..........the mountain mentioned is just
across the state line in Virginia, just a few miles. Jerry would be able to
be more specific about Uncle Malcolm and Uncle Kelly's old place and and
Grandmother Priscilla Price Penley's old place

Solomon died before everyone up and moved to KY. James Penley & Amelia Smith
are listed
in the Grayson co., KY census in 1810. So are at least 2 of Amelia's siblings
and
Solomon's widow Ally. The Larkin Smith I originally had in mind was born abt.
1848 so
unless your father recalls if Larkin was over 100 when he died it probably is
a different
Larkin. However that doesn't mean that the Larkin you are referring to isn't
related...chances are he is. Now that I know he's out there I can keep an eye
peeled for
him.
TO ALL YOU PENLEY PEOPLE:
Do any of y'all have a timeframe handy for all of this moving around? I know
that James
and Amelia went to Grayson KY by 1810 then I think to Butler co., KY. Does
anyone know
when they got to Butler? Did they ever go to Ohio co., KY? Were they or
descendants ever
in Wilkes co., GA or in Kingsport (as Karen mentioned) if so...WHEN!!!! Even
a guess
would be terrific, I'm at such a loss...too many Penleys <vbg> ***julie***
