The following is Adam Tanni/Taney/Tawney's will from Frederick County, Maryland. He is the progenitor of the Tawney family of Penn./Md.
Last Will and Testament of Adam Taney (translation)
In the name of God, Amen; I, Adam Tanni, because
I do not know when the Lord from this world
will call me, so have herewith my last will
prepared as it after my death with my
estate should be adhered to; further, if the
provisions are not kept, then one should have as much as
the others: Michael Danni, Frederick Dany, and
Sara Hausin, Christina Thany; and Christina shall
have the bed and the iron kettle, and when I
am dead, she shall have me buried;
Frederick and John shall have my hens (?),
and also Sara shall have my chest, and if
Christina does keep the place, then she shall the rooms
keep open, and if she does not keep the place,
then each should have his portion of it just as the others;
and Sara shall have my two pewter trays,
and my Elizabeth shall have the small chest, and my
Catherine shall have the two iron hooks (?), and after
ten years are through shall Christina have them, and the pewter
plates of which Elizabeth shall have three and Catherine
shall have three, and when 16 years are through shall Christina
also have them; this my last will have I
prepared with good understanding, and with my mark
with my own hand have signed and sealed, Frederick County,
25 June 1785.

Jacob FisherThis is my last will
and it should not be brought before the wise father (?):
they should apportion it among themselves
in peace and unity, and if someone is not
at peace, then shall he have nothing.
Frederick County, July 24th 1787
Then came Nicholas Leister and John Leister Junr, the two subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing Last Will and Testament of Adam Taney, late of Frederick County, Deceased, and Solemnly Affirmed and Declared and made Oath that they did see the Testator therein named sign and seal this Will, that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament, that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their Apprehensions of a sound and disposing Mind, memory and understanding, that they subscribed their names as Witnesses to this Will in the presence and at the request of the Testator, and that they did also see Jacob Fisher, the other subscribing Witness, sign his Name as Witness thereto in the presence and at the request of the Testator and all in the presence of each other.Geo.
