Gordon and all,
Concerning the idenity of Alsey Pace in Benton County Arkansas on the
land grant and the tax lists. I am 95% certain that this Alsey is a COUSIN of
Christopher Stump Pace and Edmund Alsey Pace and 2nd that Edmund Alsey Pace
did not call himself Alsey.

This Alsey Pace with the land grant 1843 is listed in Haywood County
TN in 1830 p. 435 with what appears to be his wife, a son and 2 daughters.
Alsey given as at least 20 but under 30. He is listed on the same page as
Henning Pace age 50 and under 60. A deed record from neighboring Madison
County Vol 3 p. 357 shows his wife to be Mary, also that her maiden name was
Johnson.

Alsey is listed in the 1840 Benton County Census age 30 and under 40,
with 2 males under 5, 1male 5-10, 1male 10-15, 1male 15-20.
The females are 1 under 5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 10-15 and 1 female
30-40

Alsey Pace is listed in the tax record in the years 1837, 1838, 1839
and 1840 in Benton County. (I have checked and have copies from microfilm at
the Arkansas History Commission, Little Rock)
In 1836 Benton County's parent county Washington County AR tax list
listed the following Paces:
Asa [probably Alsy]
Edmund
Christopher
Henry [probably Henning]
William

No Edmund found listed in Benton County 1837-40.

Edmund does turn up in Lawrence County MO, Turnback Township HH # 300 in 1850

Margaret age 23 b. TN
Caroline 7 b. AR,
John B. 5 b. MO
Mary J. 2 b. MO

Also listed in Lawrence County, Turnback Township HH #312 is Mary Pace age 45
that I believe is the widow of Alsey Pace listed in Haywood 1830, Benton
County tax of 1837-40 and 1840 census and the one with the land entry 1843 in
Benton County.
