Hi Gordon and list members,

Regarding the land records and Alsey Pace: I don't know anything about him,
other than what has appeared on the list. I do know that the James Dean
Pace in question was not his son. James Dean Pace who appears in the Land
Records of Benton Co. AR was born in 1835 in Giles Co. TN (per his
tombstone) to Thomas Pace and Mary Hendrix, who lived on land just west of
the Giles/Lawrence Co. TN line. Thomas was a son of William Pace and Sarah
Frazier and Mary was the daughter of William and Sarah (?) Hendrix. William
Pace's heritage has been a long struggle and still we have no answers.

I can also address a few of the others on the Benton Co. land list, to clear
up some relationships. William R. Pace was the son of Rachel Pace and
unknown husband. He was born in Giles Co. TN also and his mother was a
brother to my Thomas. He and his nephew, James Dean Pace, followed later in
the 1850's James' Uncle and William's brother-in-law, John Hendrix, who made
the move west in the 1840's.

William T. Pace was the oldest son of James Dean and his first wife, Hannah
Belieu. He later moved to OK (Pushmataha Co.)

James F. Pace was one of the younger sons of James Dean Pace and his second
wife, Caroline Ford. He also later moved to Delaware Co. OK but returned.

Richmon R. Pace, who purchased land in Polk Co. AR was a brother to James
Dean. He lived in Carroll Co. AR, Sebastian Co., and Polk Co. before
moving into OK where he died about 1920. His first wife was Harriet Taylor
(Obion Co. TN) and his second wife was a widow, Susannah Sagely, whom he
married in Benton Co. AR.

If anyone on the list knows something of this clan with the illusive past,
I'd sure appreciate any help. Been hunting for many years but have turned
up nothing concrete on Wm. Pace who was born ca 1775.

Thanks,
Gale Judkins
