Who are these Alsey Paces below in Arkansas in 1837 and 1838?
This information was kindly provided to me by the Freedmen's Project,
which I contacted because my Alsey Pace (b.1785NC) was half Indian and
half white (father Stephen Pace). My Alsey Pace married Zilpha Hall in
Johnston Co. NC, in 1820; in 1836 he married Cassandra Dean in Johnston
Co., NC. He seems to have disappeared from about 1835 to 1836-7, so this
could be my Alsey Pace, who I think might have been an Indian trader.
Later he was in Johnston Co., NC until about 1880-5 (probably died in
his late 90s), but this may not be the same Alsey Pace, although in the
same age bracket.
