here is a Pace house with a historical marker in Atlanta Ga. Vinnings
community. A Pace cemetary is located up on the hill above the house. The
house belonged to Hardy Pace. The marker says: Hardy Pace ( 1783- 1864)
operated the chattahoochee River Ferry athe site of bridge where pace's ferry
Rd crosses. Federal forces occupied vinings station July 5-17, 1864. While
preparing to cross at Paces for the move on Atlanta. The house was used to
prepare for the Battle of Atlanta and burned afterward. Hope this is
helpful Tim
Thanks Tim, I hope this info may benefit others to the Pace-L list;
My Hardy wasn't born until 1843 and died aft 1920. However in the Pace
family there is a recurrence of the name Hardy, so I think there is probably
a distant connection. Hardy's older brother, my Ggrandfather William Matthew
Pace fought with the KY 15th Cavalry at the battles of Atlanta, Resaca and
Louisville, GA. Confederate of course.
