Glad to see someone else connecting "my" Joseph Pace with Newsome. Mine
was, according to the family bible inscription of 150+ yrs ago, born 1796
in Henry Co., VA. He died ~1836 in Shelby Co. KY. He was married in Dec
1821 in Shelby Co. to Ann Magee/McGee, daughter of Humphrey Magee. He
reportedly appears in the Shelby Co. KY census of 1830, age 30-40, which
fits. He may have also been known as Joel (my grandmother's notes), but the
original entry in the marriage ledger shows him as Joseph, as does the
family bible. He named one of his sons Newsome or "Nusom". My ancestor
was another son, David Thomas Pace, who became a physician in southeast
Missouri, after graduating from programs which later became Washington
University and St. Louis University medical schools.
