These families (Peirce and Way) may have
intermarried quite a bit. Here are some
sources...
--------------
Beeson, Henry Hart. The Mendenhalls, a Genealogy.
Houston, Tex.: unknown, 1969
Lists the 1820 marriage of a later Gainer
Peirce to Ann Way, b Aug. 28, 1775. She was dau
of Rebecca Mendenhall and Caleb Way.
--------------
Schoonover, Janetta Wright. The Brinton
genealogy, a history of William Brinton who came
from England to Chester County, Pennsylvania in
1684, and of his descendants with some records of
the English Brintons. 1925
This one has a whole page on the PEIRCE line,
quoting George Pearce (as he wrote it) "of
Winscom in Someset" who md. Ann Gainer of
Thornbury in the county of Gloucester, on Feb. 1,
1678/79. Lists their children, including Gainer,
b. Feb. 1 1695, who md. Sarah Walter, and the
other children's marriages, George's immigration
to PA ca 1684, etc. Too much to copy. (Do you
have access to Heritage Quest?)
-------------
Hannum, Curtis H. [View Citation] [View Image]
Genealogy of the Hannum Family : descended from
John and Margery Hannum, settlers in Chester
County, Pennsylvania : with brief notices of
other families allied with the name, and
abstracts of early wills
West Chester, Pa.: Horace F. Temple, 1911
Some on Ann Hannum and John Way, whose son
Caleb's dau md. a Gainer Peirce another md. a
Geo. Peirce.
-----------
There are at least 5 more sources hit on a search
for "Gainer Peirce" on Heritage Quest. These
were the top three.
