Hi!
I haven’t seen the first messages for this query, so I
might be a little bit beside, but this is however what
I’ve found in the Church Books of Strömstad, BohuslĂ€n:
Olaus Strömberg (b. 22.apr.1852 in Skee Parish,
BohuslĂ€n). Married civil by the “Byfogd” in
Fredrikshald (today Halden), Østfold, Norway on
08.aug.1877 with Augusta Gustafsdotter (b. 22.jun.1853
in Tanum, BohuslĂ€n). I know this date of birth doesn’t
fit with the earlier mentioned in this discussion. All
I can say, is that I CANNOT find any Augusta born on
this date in the Church Book of Tanum, and that it
very often is entered as well incorrectly dates as
places in the Swedish “husförhörslĂ€ngder”. In the
Church Books of Strömstad she is never entered with
two first names either, just as Augusta every year
from that of 1876-1880 until the family moves to
Norway.
Olaus was a tailor, and died 03.jul.1883. The family
was then living in Rote 4, No. 74 (not 24, that was
earlier). Until 1879 the family was Methodists, this
year they went back to the Swedish Lutheran Church.
Before this they were entered as living in Strömstad,
but not “Church book written” in the town. The first
time I can find the is in the book from 1876-1880.
There is no entry in the rubric of when arriving the
place, but they are however NOT living at the same
place in the older book. The place was 4. Rote, No.
24. In 1880 they moved on to 4. Rote, No. 44D, then in
1881 to 3. Rote, No. 10, in 1882 to Rote 4, No. 74
where they lived when Olaus died of “Lungsot”. Augusta
and her two sons moved in 1883 to 1. Rote, No. 30C,
and lived here until they went on to Fredrikstad in
Østfold, Norway on 20.sep.1884.
Olaus and Augusta had these three children:
1. Anna Olivia Strömberg (b. 09.jun.1878 in Strömstad,
d. 29.nov.1878 in Strömstad). She was never baptised
in the Swedish Lutheran Church, and is not entered in
the Church Book of Births, but however, in the one of
Deaths and in the “HusförhörslĂ€ngden”. The cause of
death seems to be something like “Konvulsioner”?
2. Johan Gabriel Strömberg (b. 29.nov.1879 in
Strömstad).
3. Axel William Emanuel Strömberg (b. 26.oct.1881 in
Strömstad).
The only Olaus I can find matching in the Church Books
of Skee Parish, is Olaus (b. 22.apr.1852 in Norra
Buar, Skee, BohuslÀn and bapt. 28.apr.1852). His
parents were Lars Olsson and Birta Maria
Gabrielsdotter, who got married in Skee on
14.jan.1853, also some months later. According to the
“HusförhörslĂ€ngd” Lars was born on 02.jun.1815 in Skee
Parish, and Brita Maria on 05.sep.1830 in either Skee
or Navestad Parish, BohuslĂ€n. I’ve not confirmed this
dates yet. In the “HusförhörslĂ€ngd” we by the way have
an example on wrongly entered dates; Olaus is here for
several years entered as born on 25.apr.1852, but this
isn’t what’s written as birth date in the baptise
notice…
Hope this could be to some help, my dictionary is back
in Norway, so maybe someone please could translate the
missing parts?
