Shipton was a very large parish until Leafield had its own baptismal register
in 1784 and Lyneham has always been with Shipton.
There is a calendar of the court books of Witney 1538-1610, published by
the Oxfordshire Record Society and in it is the name Wearing/Weerig/Weering.
At the court on 17 Oct 1572 Jerome Weerig of Hailey sued Richard
Okeley, dyer, for 8s 3d; on 21 April 1609 in a case Roger Wearing was named the Constable
of Hailey.
I know this is much earlier than your interest but since Hailey, New Yatt,
Leafield and Ascott are close to each other and Shipton and Lyneham about 8
miles away and as they appear in the register entries above in a later century
it might well be worth you looking in the Witney area for more Wearings. I have
also seen the name spelt Warin(e).
There are some early wills in the Oxfordshire Record Office I could send
you the reference numbers of them if you wanted to get them:- Jerome Werying,
Witney, 1587; William Werring, husbandman, Hailey, 1635; Henry Wearing,
broadweaver, Hailey, 1698; Jeremiah
Wearing, senior, mercer, Witney, 1730. ORO will copy things but charge.
Best wishes
Joan H-D
