Many of the people listed in those files were not necessarily targets (the
wife and I also have an entry or two), but being there sure makes you upset.
It just shows how paranoid a State can get when it decides to accept rumor,
etc. from less than reliable sources. Believe me, I knew some of the fellows
dispensing some information and some was trash.. To be fair some of the
information was not all bad, but the intent of the whole commission was
suspect.

For the record Webb Overstreet and his group that are listed in this e-amil
were up standing good Mississippians. In fact Webb and his son were well
known architects. Webb developed a type architectural use of cement in
construction. He also "left" his signature "O" wiithin the design of most
every structure that he designed. A favorite metod was using "O" shaped
glass windows at the entrances of the buildings. I was told by one of his
offspring that he named a daughter after a "cigar" , Muriel. Therefore, he
had a sense of humor. The wife says he was a real nice man. I never met the
group. His son went on to San Francisco where he had a good career and was
recognized for one of their libraries that he designed. Webb comes from
Harvey "Harve" Hazzard Overstreet, son of Anderson Overstreet of Kemper
County, MS. Harve owned and operated a merchantile store in Eastabutchie, MS
in the early 1900's. His brother John James Overstreet was my wife's great
grandfather.

With this background, I have no idea what may have been entered on this
family. For all I know one may have served on the Commission or beeen
associated with it. I never have really checked on the total structure. More
than likely, however, is the fact that Webb did big time work for the State
and worked with many out of State architects and engineers who may have been
considered worth watching, etc.

I will study your list to check identities of any other I may recognize.
Oh! The fact that the wife and I made the files proved to be
inconsequential. It was mainly because we were "educators" during the
sixties.
