I pulled the following off the LDS familysearch.org web site 1880 census:

Fred OTTO Self M Male W 39 PRUSSIA Farmer PRUSSIA PRUSSIA
Bertha OTTO Wife M Female W 36 PRUSSIA Keeps House PRUSSIA PRUSSIA
Carroll OTTO Son S Male W 13 PRUSSIA At Home PRUSSIA PRUSSIA
Ida OTTO Dau S Female W 12 PRUSSIA At Home PRUSSIA PRUSSIA
Emma OTTO Dau S Female W 8 PRUSSIA At Home PRUSSIA PRUSSIA
Alvena OTTO Dau S Female W 4 IA PRUSSIA PRUSSIA
Lena OTTO Dau S Female W 2 IA PRUSSIA PRUSSIA

The last two columns are father's and mother's place of birth, respectively. It looks like the family arrived sometime between 1872 and 1876 based on ages of Emma, born in Prussia, and Alvena born in Iowa.
