Hello Jürgen,

My best guess is that it was Schüler in Germany, but the umlaut was dropped
in the U.S. I have not seen it with the "ue" spelling either. Thank you
for asking. I hope someone will be able to find the family.

Hello, just for to be sure - are you looking for Schüler (with umlaut)
or Schuler (without umlaut)?
If looking for Schüler - without typing umlauts you are hardly advised
to type "Schueler" (letter "e" behind "u" for describing umlauts.
So Germans will not be confused, anyhow.
