Ed,

I am interested in the name of the book you are reading.

Your Groenveld cousin,

I am reading a book on a family from Ostfriesland, the GROENEVELDS, and there is a repeated mention of something that doesn't make sense because I don't understand a word.

Here is 1 entry: Diese gehören zum Heerd 16, ebenso die Kirche Sitzplätze, für Männer und Frauen getrennt.
Here is another: Jeldrik wurde als drittes Kind am 21.Oktober 1759 auf dem Heerd 16 in Uphusen geboren.
Yet another: Im Kapitel, "Heerd 16--ein Erbhof der Groenevelds aus Uphusen" stehen weitere Einzelheiten.

The translations are quite clear to me except the Heerd 16. It was suggested it should be Heerdt 16, but either way all i get for a translation is hearth, and that makes no sense to me.

Thanks for enlightening me.
