There were prisoners of war in Grand Island and Atlanta Nebraska during
the war. They were taken to the movie, and would let them walk around
the base and when it was time to go home they didn't want to go. At
Atlanta the only thing left is a chimney that was the laundry place.
The old army base at Grand Island is about gone now but the air port is
were the base use to be.
It was scare when we would drive through the base to go north of town
and we were told to lock the doors of the car so know one could get in
the car. It was considered an open base.
I lived during that time so know about it.
