Subject: [OSHEAL] Isaac Osheal (wife Jarvy Nixon) son of John Osheal,Revolutionary War soldier
Date: Sat, 28 Apr 2007 21:38:26 +0000
Since there are more than one Isaac Osheals listed in the 19th century
records, it will be good to sort some of them out.
Here are a few things on one of the Isaac Osheals.
The following documents transcribed by David T. Bunton and included in THE
OSHEAL RECORD, verify that the Isaac Osheal who married Jarvy Nixon and went
to Arkansas, can be identified as the son of John Osheal, Revolutionary War
soldier of Spartanburg Co, SC. This Isaac Osheal was the first cousin of
my ancestress Elizabeth Osheal, wife of James Hewitt. It has been proven
that her father Jethro Osheal was the brother of John Osheal, both serving
together in the Revolutionary War.
In the Spartanburg Co, SC Deed Book Z page 234, a deed of land conveyance
dated January 1846 records the sale of 250 acres on the north side of Cane
Creek from Isaac Osheals and his wife Jarvy G. Osheals to Samuel McCravy.
This land consisted of two parcels of land (100 and 150 acres to total 250
acres) which had been previously conveyed to Isaac Osheal by his father John
Osheal, Sr in two separate transactions. The first conveyance from John
Osheal Sr to Isaac Osheal is recorded in Book Y page 448, dated March 1844
where John Osheals Sr deeded 100 acres on the north side of Cane Creek.
(Note: this 100 acre tract had originally been purchased by John Osheals Sr
in 1799 from Joel Hembree per Deed Book M age 100). The second land
conveyance from John Osheals Sr to his son Isaac Osheals is recorded in Book
Y page 514, dated November 1844 where John Osheals Sr deeded 150 acres for
$300 paid by my son Isaac Osheal this land also being on a branch of Cane
Creek. This 150 acre tract had originally been purchased by John Oshields
Sr in 1806 from Thomas Wilson per Deed Book M page 99.
After the sale of the 250 acre tract, Isaac Osheal, his wife Jarvy Goff
(Nixon) Osheal, and their family removed to Phillips County, Arkansas. The
above referenced deeds prove that Isaac Osheal of Phillips County, Arkansas
(wife Jarvy Goff Nixon) was the son of John Osheal, Revolutionary War
Soldier, of Spartanburg County, SC.
