John Denny, a prominent pioneer resident of Albany, died at his home in that city Friday night at the age of 71 years. Deceased was born in Athens, Ohio, in 1840, and crossed the plains to Oregon in 1852, the trip requiring six months.
Mr. Denny liberated the first China pheasants in the United States at his farm by his brother, O. N. Denny, when at that time was consul-general at Tin Tain, China.
****Note*** The Denny family Donation Land Claim was locate in the Lebanon area of Linn county.
