Rose Therese Clarke


Rose Therese Clarke, 80, of Newport, Ore., died March 24, 2011 at her home.

She was born Jan. 11, 1931 to Andrew and Rose Keating in Glasgow, Scotland. She graduated from the Glasgow School of Nursing in Glasgow, Scotland. She worked as an RN in Great Britain and the U.S. for more than 18 years. Rose married her husband, Peter A. Clarke Sr., in Glasgow, Scotland. She retired as a nurse and started her second career as a mother and homemaker of her seven children.

In 1959, they moved to the U.S., and in 1994 they moved to Scio, Ore. They decided to make Newport their home in 2007.

She was preceded in death by her son, Andrew James Clarke; and brother, James Keating.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Peter A. Clarke Sr.; daughters, Moira Clarke, Judith (John) Viereck, and Rosemairhi Robinson; sons, Peter (Bobbie) A. Clarke Jr., Stephen (Barbara) Clarke, and Paul (Trudy) D. Clarke; 21 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mario Pastega House in Corvallis. Services will be planned for a later date in Scotland.

Bateman Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
