Barbara Jacqueline Kent Damon


Barbara Jacqueline Kent Damon, 75, of South Beach, Ore., died after an extended illness on March 6, 2011 at her home.

She was born Aug. 19, 1935 to Clarice (Jackie) and Roscoe (Rocky) Kent in Winfield, Kan. Her compassion, warmth, cheerfulness, beautiful infectious smile and laugh will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Denise Helmhout of South Beach, Kyle (Suzan Mascall) of Couer d' Alene, Idaho and Sean Helmhout of Hermiston, Ore.; sister, Summer Patricia Kent Durand of Boquete, Panama; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the OHSU Casey Eye Institute of Portland, Ore. A memorial and celebration of life will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 19, at the Elks Lodge, 45 SE John Moore Dr. in Newport.

Bateman Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
