Hi Marsha,

I found an additional child.

David Corbit born 26 March 1889 in Orangeville, Dufferin Co., son of John Corbit, farmer and Catherine Hamilton. (Ancestry)

Did John own his land? Land records may provide clues.

Did their daughter Florence move to the US? I found a possible entry in the 1900 US Census (Brainerd City, Crow Wing, Minnesota) Florence Corbet, born June 1875 Canada English, nurse. (Ancestry)

Is Mary Steward in the 1901 Census with Catherine Corbett her daughter? They are both born in 1865. If so, Mary's family moved about (ie. her children are born in BC, ON and Quebec). Perhaps the Corbett's did too. Have you tried LDS Pilot search?

Ancestry lists the Corbets [sic] in the 1871 Census, with older children. Was John previously married.

Regards,
Gail

Subject: [ONTARIO] Where is John CORBETT/CORBIT & family in 1891?

Greetings,

I can't find John CORBETT/CORBIT or any other family members in the 1891
Census via ancestry.com.. I've tried no names, first names with abt birth
years, scrolling Orangeville, etc. and have found no one. He died in
Dufferin, 1892 [indexed CORKETT] and is buried in Orangeville. Per his MI
[photographed by other CORBETTs] "Stricken down with a cold resulting from
wet feet..."

Are there any other versions of the 1891 Census available to search in case
they are hiding somewhere?
