Subject: [ONTARIO] 1836 Emigration from Downton, Wiltshire to Canada

April 7, 1836 Wiltshire, Eng. sent their poor from Downton, Wilts. to Canada aboard the King William landing in Quebec. Not known where in Canada/Ontario they went to.

The CHAMP family and the FORDER families were aboard, however, both of these families were back in Wiltshire in 1841.

Questions: Why and how would these families return to Wiltshire? Where did they get the money for their return voyage in such a short period of time?
