Hi Steve, A letter - identifying yourself - and your interests - in
researching your family
and possible connection with their family. Include your telephone
number - and e mail address.
Enclose a stamped, self addressed envelope -for their reply.
This allows the person/s the opportunity - to decide whether they
wish to respond - or not.
Or: A telephone call - followed up by a letter.
* I sent out 121 letters -over time -
received 4 positive responses. Some of the letters were returned
unopened Some claimed no knowledge - Turned out that all were family
connected - to my family.
Some of the younger -persons - just didn't know - Some of the elders
- were suspicious. ** Some returned the mail ,keeping the stamps.
