Subject: [ONTARIO] Problem- SMITH/SMYTH birth
Date: Thu, 23 Nov 2006 17:34:36 -0500

Hi,

Last night I found a birth for a child by the name of George William SMITH,
b. 12 Oct 1873 in -and this is my first problem- no county is given for
these two pages either at the top or the bottom of the page. However, it
does say that the father is of Manilla ON. When I looked at ON Locator, it
says it no longer exists, but appears that it was in Northumberland Co.

The second problem is that there is another record with exactly the same
info and by playing with the brightness and contrast I could read that it
was the district of ------------ blank and the division of Brock. Could
this be the Brock Twp. near London or is it in Durham or Northumberland?
Both records say that the father id of Manilla.

Problem three is that the child that I am looking for was called John Henry
SMITH/SMYTH and I have never found a birth record for him. His parents
were George and Mary (Foreman) SMITH/SMYTH and he was born 14 Oct 1873
according to family history. He is buried in CA where his parents and
siblings moved after a good deal of migration.

The similarities are such that I feel that this must be one of my family and
a cousin suggested that maybe they were Twins?? The problem is that the
other siblings were born in Norfolk Co. Family history says that George
moved to the Manitoulin about 1872, but the other children were born after
John and he most likely didn't go to the Island until after the last child
was born in 1878.

I would like to hear any comments or suggestions. Thank you

Dawn
