Subject: [ONTARIO] Microfilm Readers

I'm interested in purchasing a low-end microfilm reader and some newspaper
microfilm reels from the Ontario Community Newspaper Association so that I
can read a number of Ontario newspapers that were published in the
communities where my ancestors lived. My free time and scheduling
flexibility will decline quite soon as I am changing from a largely
work-at-home, freelance position to an office position, so visiting the
Ontario Archives or using a reader at my local FHC will be difficult.

So far, I've found only a single Toronto-area dealer and they've provided me
with a quote (I'm looking at the Indus Reader Model 4601-11). I'm having a
hard time, however, trying to locate other micrographics dealers in the
Greater Toronto area, at least those who sell to the general public - and
who are reputable. At the moment, therefore, I don't have a good idea as to
how competitive the local prices are. I'm also interested in getting
feedback from anyone who might have used that specific microfilm reader, or
who can recommend another model. I have limited desktop space and tend to be
the type of person who likes new equipment (or equipment that is "like
new"). I don't have a problem manually advancing or rewinding the microfilm
roll.

The geographical areas I'm interested in are either not on 'Paper of Record'
or the time frames are not appropriate, so subscribing to their service is
not an option at this time.

I've looked at eBay and did find the model I was interested in, but I'm not
sure I'm prepared to risk buying a relatively pricey piece of equipment
through a seller outside Canada.
