Hi Marlene:

I suspect that I found your family; I realized that there was likely a
misspelling of the surname (as I have seen in my family). So I took a
chance and found this in the 1881 Canada Census:
Household: KIDD (sic)

Name Marital Status Gender Ethnic Origin Age Birthplace Occupation Religion
John KIDD M Male English 69 England Tailor Catholic
Bridget KIDD M Female English 52 England Catholic
Mary KIDD Female English 22 O <Ontario> Catholic
James KIDD Male English 20 O <Ontario> Laborer Catholic
Maggie KIDD Female English 17 O <Ontario> Catholic
John KIDD Male English 15 O <Ontario> Catholic
Source Information:
Census Place Edwardsburg, Grenville South, Ontario
Family History Library Film 1375866
NA Film Number C-13230
District 106
Sub-district C
Division 1
Page Number 78
Household Number 367

There are only two families with surname NIDD in the 1901 Canada Census for
Ontario, and one you have located in Grenville south. There is also this
one, and apparently with an error in first name. The head of this family
was born around 1859 and the census indicates he was born in Ireland and
arrived in Canada in 1871; religion was RC and he was unemployed.

Source Information: 1901 Census of Canada
Subdistrict: Hintonburgh (Village), CARLETON, ONTARIO
District Number: 52
Subdistrict Number: b-3
Archives Microfilm: T-6462
Nidd Janie F Head M 42
Nidd Brigid A. F Daughter S Feb 4 1880 21
Nidd Mary J. F Daughter S Aug 25 1882 18
Nidd William J. M Son S Jul 20 1884 16
Nidd Michael M Son S Jul 20 1886 14
Nidd John M Son S Sep 13 1887 13
Nidd Philip A. M Son S Sep 13 1887 13
Nidd John J. M Son S Aug 10 1890 11

Also, in checking the Census for Canada generally, there was this entry:

Source Information: 1901 Census of Canada
Subdistrict: Hull, WRIGHT, QUEBEC
District Number: 200
Subdistrict Number: m-1
Archives Microfilm: T-6549
Maloney Patrick M Head W Jan 1868 32
Blanche Anne F Aunt S 1852 48
Nidd James M Servant S 1887 13

All three state birthplace as Quebec, religion as RC and only James Nidd
states he is of English origin while the other two state it as Irish origin.
