Hello,

Yes please - count me in too! I have an elusive relative who reportedly
immigrated first to Canada (between census I think) & ended up in USA. As he
came from UK & he was entering a UK colony, he needed no nauralization
process, which is too bad in research terms - no records to speak of.

I am seeking the entry in to Canada & the residence (province unknown) of
George MCMILLAN (1856-1930) who was born in Argyll, Scotland. He married 1st
in 1893 & moved to Little Addington, Northamptonshire, England. His wife
died having their 7th child, in early 1901. George remarried before the year
was out & had 5 more children. Between 1906-1908, the whole family travelled
to Liverpool, Lancashire, England with plans to immigrate. George left his
wife (who was expecting their last child) & all the children in Liverpool,
as it was thought unwise for her to travel in her condition. George left for
Canada alone, meaning to send for his family later. It is not known where,
in Canada, George 1st settled, but his employment would almost certainly
have been agricultural, as this is what he had done all his life; working
with sheep in particular. Maybe it didn't go so well, as George moved to
Johnson County, Wyoming USA maybe about 1912 & the family still hadn't
joined him. Next thing, WW1 comes along & Atlantic travel by civilians is
not a good or likely plan. In the end, it wasn't until 1920 that George saw
a family member again, when his son, George MCMILLAN Jr. (1896-1968) came
out to join him. The others never came & his wife died in 1924, at age 50.

A sad tale, with many questions. A CANADA-USA-CONNECTIONS-L would be a great
place to ask these questions. Thank you for suggesting it.
