Here is a link to Canadian military ranks and you can also click and see the
insignia for each. Hope it helps you.

Subject: [ONT] Kind of a genealogical request

I need information help on a genealogical scrapbook which is ongoing.

In WW2, Canadian soldiers wore chevrons different than those of nowadays.

On one site I have found sergeant's stripes, three chevrons with the "V"
pointed downward.

However, I can't find one for a private. What I would have thought to be a
private's chevron was labeled corporal.
Were privates "slick sleeves," no stripers?

In case you're curious, the sergeant was Sgt. Michael Cassidy, the Algonquin
regimental mascot. My Uncle was the private.

Thank you.
