Hello Joan:

I took a look at the city of Toronto directories the other day. Here is
what I found.

1884
BUSINESS DIRECTORY - classified listing
Cattle dealers
GRUMBACHER, Max, 199 Little Richmond

STREETS DIRECTORY
199 Little Richmond = GRUMBACHER, Max, cattle dlr
Little Richmond runs west from 132 Brock, St. Andrew's Ward

NAMES DIRECTORY
GRUMBACHER, Max, drover, 199 Little Richmond

There were no other GRUMBACHER names listed

1889
GRUMBACHER, Max, cattle dlr, h 199 Farley ave
Farley runs west from 132 Spadina ave, St Andrew's ward

1894
same info as 1889, except description of Farley ave is:
Farley runs west from 146 Spadina av to Niagara, first south of Queen w,
wards 4 and 5

1900
No GRUMBACHER listings
199 Farley listing = YOUNG, T R

I then went back to see when the GRUMBACHER listings first appear.

1879
No GRUMBACHER listings
No Cattle Dealer listings that I could find

1882
GRUMBACHER, Max, drover, 162 L Richmond
He is also listed under Cattle Dealers along with about 20 other cattle
dealers - a thriving occupation at that time.

That's all I could find on this name. Hope that is of some help.

listings for this name.

I am wondering if anyone has any information on Max Grumbacher and his
cattle company which was in existence in Toronto at least in 1881-1882. Am
wondering where it was located, dates company was in Toronto, did he buy and
sell cattle and any other available facts.
