You can search for births, marriages and deaths.

The marriage is shown is shown on this site as registration #012591-77. Her
parents names are shown. The actual marriage registration record may
contain more information perhaps where she and the parents were born. Her
name by the way is indicated as Maria 'Rosana' HOLMES.

Check it out. There are 603 HOLMES marriage listings; narrow it down by
doing a 'refined search' using both of her and hubby's surnames. That way,
there are only 56 listings to read through!

That may help a bit.

I'm new to the list and am searching for HOLMES relations as follows:

Andrew ARMOUR b.1846 York Mills, Ontario, (son of John Armour & Mary
Dalziel
both born in Scotland & m. Toronto 1829);

married Maria Rose HOLMES, b.1857 (Ontario?).

Maria (my husbands ggrandmother) is supposedly one of 5 children: Lisa,
Annie, Sarah-Anne and David.

I'm looking for any information on her birth place, parents & siblings.
