Hello ... So many people have been so helpful to me Bonnie . Its how the system works ! Its fun ...
I will check out Bowan as well . Remember that spelling was by guess and by golly in those days!
I am glad the scan worked for you .
I did not send a full page . Those were the only entries in Reid .I copied parts of 2 pages and combined them to simplify things .
Back to what Lorine said ... 12 in the old UEL list but one would have thought that more would be in W. Reid . That's why you check out the Archival Index C-10812 .
The UEL list may not have them all either !
Hopefully you got that web page I sent .
By way of background William Reid passed away in 1969 . He was employed in the archives and he set himself the task of sorting out all these UELs as he came across them [ and he deliberately tried to came across them!!] ...a truly massive undertaking! In addition to the UEL work , Reid compiled an awsome number of wedding notices , death notices etc .
But , as Lorine has so very ably pointed out there are holes in it ! None the less Reid will often indicate a child's marriage if he came across it while doing research in the archive so the book is a good basis to start .
You will have received Don Diminie's reply re the actual OCs . He is a direct descendent of UEL McGinnis , [McGin in some records] and he knows his stuff!
I also found a couple of other items re "Daniel Bowen" .
An assessment in Fredericksburg 1808 , a bit from the 1857 Ontario Registry and a marriage... . Let me know if you did not get it .
Good Luck in your search and keep us posted !

Hi Rob:
This is very kind of you to go to all this trouble. As soon as I read about a photo program I shuddered. I'm not proficient at doing these things if I've never done them before, but it looked just fine and was readable. Not a full page arrived though, is that how you sent it? Even just that wee bit has a lot of information in it.
I don't believe there was that many Bowen families anyway. Maybe this is the lot.
Thank you again Rob.
Bonnie

You might have to place this scan in a photo program to enlarge in order to read. This is the W. Reid families .
Here is an example of what Lorine pointed out this morning.
the UEL list has 12 Bowens [ and it may not have them all ]
and here are only a few families? ... Doesn't add up does it?
I'll find the Archive Index tape number for you . I have it bookmarked .
Let me know re the quality , readability ! Rob McGinn
