In addition to Jill's observations, the ethnicity also seems to have changed
from German to Irish.

Despite this, it would seem to be the same family. The youngest in the GRAVE
clan in 1881, 10 year old Nelson, appears in the 1901 in Dresden, Bothwell
as 30 year old Nelson GROFF, a lodger with the possibly remarried Yoretta
BARBER. Brother John GROFF, with his wife & daughter are also in Bothwell

I too doubt that "James in 1881" is the "twin" of the James in 1871,
deceased in 1873 --- where was he in 1871? (You'd need to find a stray
GROFF/GRAVE of the right age in 1871)
