If you know what state these people lived in you can join the state census
lookup mail lists.

For instance, for New York State it is:

NY-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L or
or

FL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L or

and so on.

Our census out are up to 1930.

I have used the NY list to find my mother and her family on 1920 and my
father's first time listing in 1930.
Prior to 1930, my dad's family lived in Canada.
