My two cents... if you have a Canadian CIBC account, CIBC will either cash the
US funds cheque if you have enough funds in your account to cover the cheque, or
can deposit it into your account in Canadian funds. There may be a 15-30 day
hold on the funds until the cheque has had time to clear, depending on your
relationship with the bank.

I don't know about this. I have sent Canadians personal checks many times
and no one has ever said that they had a problem with it. Canadian
researchers don't seem to mind American money at all because it is worth a
little more after the exchange rate.

Any Canadians who have received American checks want to chime in on this one?
