I have read with interest on this money exchange/checks US vs Canadian
...
About 6 months ago I had the
pleasure of having someone do a look up at the Archives...there was a
price set, job completed and was very pleased...she asked that payment
be made in cash US because the banks in Canada charge $5 to $10 to cash
the check...or they charge against her account...
Then, shortly afterwards I had another
occasion to send money for service, and they too asked me to send
cash...the same reason...now, it didn't
matter to me...except in the loss of the letter they would be out...but,
in light of this ongoing thread, does this ring true?

: There is absolutely no problem whatsoever in sending a cheque
: (note spelling!) denominated in US$ to someone in Canada.
: One of the listers in fact has sent my a/c in Canada several cheques
: in US for little jobs I've done for her in the UK.
:
: Don't do it in reverse however. Most US banks don't have any idea
: what the CDN$ is or where the country is if it comes to that!
:
: John Overholt, ex banker who has worked in Canada, US and UK.
: Kingston upon Thames,Eng.
