It is true about indexes......It is always better to scan a full document if you can than to depend on indexes.
You will find other pieces of information too, in a scan, that is not even a possibility to be indexed.....
DITTO for GRANTOR and GRANTEE books. ALWAYS look at BOTH sides of the transaction.

If you are going to do this project, I would advise you to use the records themselves rather than the index, as there are many records NOT in the index (ie. marriage records 1869-1873, someone has index them later).

And I know someone, who has found his person by looking in the township (of that year), rather than using the index (which did not show his person).
