Cobourg is in Hamilton Tp., Northumberland Co.; and there is a town of
Brighton in Brighton Tp., Northumberland Co.

Can I suggest the following websites to help with locations in
Ontario/Canada

http://digital.library.mcgill.ca/CountyAtlas/search.htm this is a wonderful
site at McGill University -- they have digitize the County Atlases that were
produced in the 1870/1880's for most of the Southern Ontario Counties. You
can search on maps and people.

http://geonames.nrcan.gc.ca/english/cgndb.html Natural Resources Canada
"Query by Geographical Name" you can search by current or former name.

http://www.archives.ca/02/02010902_e.html National Archives of Canada Post
Offices and Postmasters - sometimes the location you are searching for is
not a community but a postal address

http://www.geneofun.on.ca/ontariolocator/ a site for locating villages,
towns, townships, etc for genealogical research

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/traveller/map/ for a web version of the
Official Road Map of Ontario from the Ministry of Transportation (Ontario)
it covers both Northern and Southern Ontario - you can click on an area and
download map and click of the appropriate letter and find the map for a
city, town, etc.

As for the Cummings Funeral that I can't help you with that but you might
check with the Cobourg Library http://www.cobourg.library.on.ca/ they might
be able to check an old phone directory.

The Brighton Library is not online.
