Hello Paula;
You are in a very lucky position with this connection. There are a
dozen pages on this extended family in the book. Richard and David are
brothers, nephews of John Matthews. They are sons of his widowed
sister, Rachel. Later she and 3 daughters joined the rest of the family
in what became known as Welsh Block of London Twp. The author of the
book is descended from the Rossers who were the family of another sister
of John Matthews. You would be a cousin of some degree to the author.
If you would care to send me your address I will be happy to make copies
of the pages from this chapter, and a bit more on the author.
The chapter mentions the family was from Llansamlet in Wales, and
has details on the voyage over. Very good information for your search
for information. Bill.
