Don,
There is both a township of Kingston and a city of Kingston. Both of these are
in Frontenac County.

Kirkland Lake is a town in the District of Timiskaming. There is also a township
called Kirkland, which is in Cochrane District.

This is where these communities are currently located, although over time the
boundaries and names of the various counties/districts and townships have
changed. This website may help you if you are looking for the names of the
counties/disticts historically:

You should also be aware that OCFA is very partial. The majority of cemeteries
are in fact not included there and it is, as its name implies, only a "Finding
Aid". You would have to search the cemeteries in the areas in which you believe
your ancestors lived. Many of the cemetery transcripts are on microfiche at the
Provincial Archives of Ontario and others are available from the various
genealogical societies around Ontario.
