Here is the Sault OGS. They have a publications page that shows they have transcribed BMD from the Sault Star beginning in 1901. They did upto about 1925 then resumed in 1981 to the present.
I would assume this means that the paper was started in 1901. I vaguely remember there being an index of sorts at the Public Library for the years that had been transcribed. For the other years you probably have to search the papers. Unless, they are currently working on those transcriptions. I have no idea.

Hi Mary Ann
About the Sault Star Newspaper
Do you know if they have obituaries around 1920-30 and would I have to have
exact date. My Uncle Kenneth Parks was drowned in a logging accident and I
was told he was in teens so if he was born around 1911 or 12 and he was
about 16 would that be to much of a stretch of time. I can't find out when
he was born or when he died but he was the oldest and my grandmother
andgrandfather were married 1910 in Garden River their names were William
Parks and Edna Lesage. Is there a site where I could browse .
Thanks again for any help.

>Yes, the list is still alive. Just not extremely active. I don't remember
what year the Sault Star began, but I know I have an obit from before 1942.
I think it began in the early 1900's. And yet is it archived. The local
public library has all of them on site.

Any help is greatly apprecited. And oh yes is this mailing list still alive?
