I have just begun to look for a William D. Packard b. in Canada West in 1834
to parents Samuel and Elizabeth Wakefield Packard. The family was later
found in Buffalo, NY, and Samuel, William and James Wakefield are listed as
Sailors in the 1860 Buffalo Census. Could anyone suggest to me where I
should look for a birth record for William? and if they might have any
insight as to info on "Sailors"? I have no clue as to whether they were in
the "Navy" or commercial seaman or what. Is there another possibility? I
also "know" the family was not Catholic. Not much, I know! Kathie
