I am looking for connections to these lines for
Gabriel and Emily Mason Leonard Varnum born Canada
circa 1829 (Emily's parents were Celice Mason and Leon
Leonard). Gabriel andEmily's son Henry Herrick Varnum
may provide a clue for a Herrick connection also. Or
anyone with a connection that is not mentioed in this

home files, but here is a summary compiled from
various sources:

Cyrus Varnum at first provided me with
research from several generations of his family and
branches -

Elizabeth and Rebecca Varnum married Nicholas and
Richard Demaray - notes in the following refer to
VG ("Varnum Genealogy" by James Henderson Ward 1926 at
LDS or LOC) and roman numerals are for generations
from George Varnham who landed in Ipswich MA 1635 -
however VOD (Varnums of Dracutt 1907 available from
Higginson books) doesn't follow this branch - possibly
due to Loyalist/phobia - and says Elizabeth and
Rebecca's father's father Benjamin Varnum b 1748
Dracutt died young.

Cyrus describes the general story of this Varnum line
as follows -
"My Benjamin (V) passed thru Peacham but moved on to
Canada and started a line that came back to Michigan,
Colo, Montana and California. The DAR and some of the
family accused him of being a Tory, but in 1780 I
think he moved up there because the Canadian
Government was giving away free land. "

I then took Cyrus' gedcom of research results and
pulled the OCFA Ontario cemetary references out and
put them into the gedcom for these lines (at the
Varnum Genealogy site under the George and Hannah
Varnum of Ipswich link there is a very large register
report) but did not figure out who all the Varnums
and Demaray's belong to - so anyone who has
corrections, please let me know.
