I'm posting this to the list, as since I answered the posting on the Whyte
family, with my Hughes information, I've seemed to sparked an interest in
Hughes again, and have gotten quite afew emails asking about my Hughes line.

Richard & brother Thomas immigrated from Ireland either in 1819 or 1824,
both stayed in Canada, but another brother, said to be Joseph, was said to
have gone to the US. 3 of Richards grandsons immigrated to Huron Co., MI.
in the 1870's.

The other Hughes line in Ont. is Joseph Robert Hughes, and his daug. married
Richard's son, they are my g-grandparents, and I really believe they were
first cousins. So, the story about Joseph going to the US wouldn't be true,
but I have met other descendants of this line, and they also were told that
one of Joseph's brothers went to the US.

There is a story in my family that there were 5 Hughes brothers. So far, I
have Richard and Thomas, and possibly Joseph & Anthony in Ont. All these
families named their male offspring Thomas, Anthony, Joseph, Richard and
John, so I'm leaning towards the idea that John was the brother that came
to the US.
