Subject: [ONTARIO-L] WILL DO LOOKUPS
Date: Mon, 02 Nov 1998 11:14:02 -0500
Since I posted this yesterday, I have had a number of people asking me
for lookups. However, I should have stated more clearly where the
cemeteries are located and that the plots were for Polish immigrants, so
I am reposting (and adding a few more addresses to send to) my offer,
with a few changes. Please bear with me or delete this if you aren't
interested.
I have listings for 2 cemeteries in Ontario. Both are in the Barry's
Bay - Wilno area, which is between Algonquin Park and Pembroke, Ontario.
If anyone has Polish ancestors who lived in this area, they may be
buried in one of these cemeteries:
Church of the Assumption Cemetery (1896 to 1920's), also known as the
Old Barry's Bay Cemetery, located south-west of the town, just off the
road to Siberia.
St. Stanislaus Pioneer Cemetery, also known as the Old Wilno Cemetery,
located just south of the town of Wilno.
Many of the graves are unmarked now due to ravages of weather and time,
so even if you went there, you may not find the grave you are seeking.
Both Roman Catholic cemeteries were for burials of the Polish immigrants
who settled in this area.
If you want a lookup, please let me know the Polish names you are
searching; don't just ask for a listing of surnames, because it's too
lengthy for me to type out.
I hope this answers all the questions - if I don't reply to each and
every single e-mail that has been sent since yesterday, it means that
your names were not found in the listing, especially if they aren't
Polish names.
Don't worry if it takes a couple of days to receive my reply - I'm on
the road a lot - I will get back to you whether or not I find any info
on your relatives.
Hope I can help someone, as everyone's been very kind and helpful to me.
Marg
