Hi to All,
This e:mail is a little long, for which I apologize, but here goes.
I am looking for help locating information/descendants for my McDonell (etc) ancestors. Here is what I know:
Hugh McDonell and Catherine MacDonald (born 1801 and 1810 respectively) were married in St. Andrew's West RC Church (Stormont) Jan 30, 1832. Hugh died Aug 20, 1883 and is buried at St. Rapheal's RC cem. in Glengarry. I have been unable to locate Catherine's death info. although I believe she died after 1881 and before 1891
They had the following children, all baptized at St. Andrew's West ( I have all the bap. dates and sponsors):
John born May, 1836 - baptized May 22, 1836
William born April 14, 1838
Alexander born May 1, 1840
Christy born May 29, 1842
Mary Ann born June 18, 1844
Flory born March 24, 1847
Duncan and Sally born June 12, 1849
Dougald born Oct 3, 1851
I believe they also had a son Angus Hugh born 1835 (my Great Grandfather). I have not found Angus' bapt. record but I did find him with this family on the census records.
According to census records the family lived in the Cornwall twp. until 1871 when Hugh and Catherine moved to Glengarry (lot 34, concession 8) with Angus and his new wife.
Angus married Mary Ann McPhail Oct. 10, 1871 at St. Andrew's West( I have info. on all their children).
My problem is this, I have been unable to locate any information on Hugh and Catherine's birth and can't find out who their parents were. I would also like to trace forward from their children, I have traced most of Angus' children.
Does anybody out there have any ideas about where I can look for Hugh and Catherine's parents?
Does the family sound like it might belong to anyone out there:?
Again sorry for the lengthy e:mail.
Happy Hunting
Dana
