Hello:

Someone from the SDG list [or maybe it was EONTGEN-L?] was interested in
writing a book on the cheese factories in Eastern Ontario. I apologize for
posting this message to the two lists; however, I did not save the
respective messages.

Several years ago I recall having read an article in the Ottawa Citizen
[re: a local book fair at which a book on cheesemakers was being featured];
I could find nothing at the Ottawa Citizen's "on-line archive search" page
[maybe they'd have something in their physical archives].

In any event, I did check ResAnet [the National Library Catalogue]. I
believe that the book that I had read about is by Heather Menzies:

*By the Labour of their Hands: the Story of Ontario Cheese* [Kingston:
Quarry Press, c1994]

You'll find other interesting [some historical citations as well] under the
Subject Headings "Cheese Industry Canada," "Cheese Industry Ontario" and
"Cheese Industry Ontario History." Also be sure to check the corresponding
books in French under "Fromageries," etc.
