Hi - - - - - - - - I live in the City of Orange, just east of Garden Grove.
I pulled up the following information about Honold Mortuary in Garden Grove
by keying in Honold Mortuary on my search bar. There have been mergers, etc.
-- Rose Hills Cemetary in Whittier, CA might be involved. - - - - - - - - - -

Our History

Our mortuary was established in the 1940’s, as Honold Brothers’ Mortuary by
Ben Honold, who later left it to his son George. In the 1960’s the business
became Mettler Family Mortuary when Al Mettler took over. In 1980 Don Dimond
became owner and in 1990 the Loewen Group purchased the business.
In the earlier days, when it was Mettler Family Mortuary, the firm operated
an ambulance service. Later on Mr. Mettler took on a partner, Carl
Richardson, in the ambulance service. Eventually, Mr. Richardson took over
the ambulance service on his own and to this day is still operating the Care
Ambulance Company.

Originally the building was located in the downtown area until 1979 when the
city took the property for redevelopment. The business was then moved to its
current location on Chapman Avenue. The building is a modern facility
enhanced by a large chapel with stained glass windows that will accommodate
175 people comfortably. The facility has a warm feeling and is decorated
moderately and tastefully. The location is on a main street, however is also
located adjacent to a residential area thereby maintaining more of a
neighborhood effect.

The business serves families from a wide variety of ethnic and religious
groups. We provide service to any church or cemetery the families selects, as
well as transportation of a loved one to any where in the world.

We also serve the community through many different organizations such as the
Kiwanis, Elks, and Chamber of Commerce.

As dedicated members of the Garden Grove community, it is our desire to
provide the highest quality of service. We want to serve our families with
the same efficiency, dignity, and respect that we would serve one our own
family members.
