Betty,
Well you have narrowed it down to about 6 states. That helps. Was Buxton
black or white? Was he of some Indian ancestry? Did he have a social
security number? Have you checked his VA records? Maybe a military grave
marker was issued to him at some cemetery. Was he a member of the Masons,
Odd Fellows, Knights of Columbus, etc that you could check on?

He may have been buried in some National Cemetery. There is one in Ft.
Gibson, OK. I am sure there are some in Louisiana. He may have been buried
in his home town in Oklahoma - if you knew what town that was. If he was a
chaplain, what denomination was he? If he was catholic, he may be buried in
a catholic cemetery. Was he cremated?

When searching for cemeteries it is a good idea to consider all things that
the person was affiliated with in his life. If his wife died in Kinder, was
she remarried? If she used the Buxton name, it might be a good idea to find
where she is buried and he may be buried beside her. I have seen it many
times that a woman remarries and when she dies she wants to be buried next
to her first husband.

Remember there is no stupid idea to pursue, let the mind flow with stupid
ideas and then start eliminating them one at a time. You may get in the
back door using the Gilley family approach.

Good Luck,
Dennis
