Hey Lawrence County researchers!!!

If you haven't sent in a story about your family for the new history book,
nows the time to get busy. The deadline is September 1 for postmark, or
handed in at the Sept 3 meeting of the Lawrence County Genealogical Society.


We need stories about your family if you live in or have lived in the county,
or about your ancestors if they lived in Lawrence Co. There will be sections
for general family stories, for stories about ancestors of members of First
Families, for stories about Pioneer families (who were her by 1840, but
aren't documented as First Families), and stories about Civil War Veterans (
and their families) who lived in Lawrence Co. for some part of their life.

You can send in stories for any or all of these sections, but only one story
per person per section. We especially need your stories, if your family
wasn't covered in the 1990 volume of Lawrence Co. History. Each Story can be
up to 500 words and you can include a photo, if an appropriate one is
available. There is a ten cent per word charge if over 500 words. Use the
word counter in you word processor program. Extra photos are $12.50

The book will be in the standard 9x12 format, hardbound, and printed on acid
free paper, and is intended to be a companion to the 1990 volume. Prepaid
prepublication
price is: $53.25 picked up in Ohio; $55 shipped out of Ohio; and $58.58
shipped in Ohio. The prices listed are good to Oct 1. Price will be
adjusted after final cost is determined.

Each story should have a title and complete contact info for the
submitter/writer( full mailing address, phone, and email). If you have more
stories, you can write them and submit them, with permission, in another
family members name, with yourself listed as writer.

If you cannot meet the Sept 1 deadline, please contact us, and we will hold a
place as long as possible. You can continue to send us stories after Sept 1,
but we cannot promise they will all get in. We will try to get them all in,
and will send an update when we can see the end of the process will force us
to stop. Please send your stories as soon as possible.

We are submitting this material to the publisher electronically, both text
and photos, and they will lay out the pages. This process saves us money
because we do all the data entry, and proof reading before the material goes
in, and also gives us the chance to continue adding material almost up to
the day it is sent to the publisher.

Send your stories by email if possible. Scan photos at 300 dpi or greater,
and save in .tif or .jpg format. Send attached to an email with description
of the attachment, includ name/names of person/s in the photo, listed by row
in left to right order. Also make sure to tell me which story it goes with,
if not attached to that story.

If mailing story and or photo, you can submit on a CD or disc. If sending
photo prints, please send photographic print or high grade computer print on
photo quality paper. Low quality on plain paper does not scan well. Please
include SASE if return of photo desired.

Stories on paper should be typed or computer printed in black, double spaced
in a standard font ( Arial, Times New Roman )in #12 or #14 size. If the
person sending the story can't type or doesn't have access, hand written
stories will be accepted.
